Hello, dear eye care specialists! In this post, I want to share with you one of the cases which I got from our intern.
These are the OCT scan and the Fundus photography of a 31-year-old man.
The patient was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 13 years ago.
What are these changes in the upper arcade? How to describe it? Our intern would appreciate your answers!
You can see he has minimal background diabetic retinopathy. His macula is pretty clear based on your macular OCT slice.
As to the lesion, the fundus photo makes it look like the hemorrhage extends into the vitreous somewhat, but it's hard to say. It's a fibrinoid type of (or lipid-laden?) pre-retinal hemorrhage. The OCT over the hemorrhage, however shows it on the surface of the retina.
It's not a typical looking diabetes hemorrhage so I'm going to guess that it's a macroaneurysm or even microaneurysm.
What is your opinion?
