Optyl frames

Ive been glazing Optyl for 40 years and they still make me nervous!
So Ive accepted a reglaze at their own risk its an Optyl with a groove insert , do you spring in cold or use a lot of heat?
I would appreciate some help.

Get it hot enough so that it becomes pliable. After glazing, let it cool on it's own.

If you mean a groove insert as in a nylon cord holding the lens in then this is an exception to the "lots of heat" rule for Optyl. If you apply lots of heat you will shrink the nylon cord. Cold fit for this one. If it is an older Oplyl model there is the increased chance of breakage, but I noticed you have let the customer know it is at their own risk.

Thanks for the replies! , Im not too sure what to call these it reminds me of silhouette spx plastic frames where you have to put a groove into the lenses to insert, this however is Optyl ,

Never saw an Optyl before that required a groove but if that is what you have you better heat till soft and insert your lens as with any Optyl frame. Let it cool on its own and it will be tight around the lens. If the current lenses are tight in the frame make sure to match the size you should have no problem.
