    Progressive has me stumped

Old Glasses from a different office:

    -.75 -.75x060
    -2.00-1.50x95

    New glasses from our office:
    -.75 -.75x70
    -2.00-2.00x95

    PD's 29/31 both pairs

    Both are progressives, same material.

Trouble is, when patient puts on new glasses, he says he has to tilt his nose to the right to see clearly from distance, as though the pd's were set to wide. But if he keeps his head that way, the NV is blurry, and he has to straighten out his head to a more natural position to see NV clearly. PD's match up as to where they should be, lenses are aligned correctly, and we have made numerous glasses for this gentleman with same PD's and same progressive that he was happy with.

Could the increase in astigmatism play a part in this? It seems like that's the only real difference?? Am I missing something?

I'd put him on the chart and see if that 10 degrees is valid. If he's searching off-center in the distance zone to see more clearly, that about has to be it.

Captain obvious here. As DRK stated, the axis shift may play a small role here, but I’m thinking PAL design. Either an updated PAL, or a corridor change.
I bend light. That is what I do.

If all the parameters are the same for previous progressives, you may want to check frame alignment. Yes, PD's may be the same and fitting point is correct when measured but how the lenses present to the eye can make a difference especially with progressives. Have the Px wear his previous pair and note pantascopic tilt, frame wrap and back vetex distance from his eyes then as far as possible and practical match that fit with his new spectacles.

Definitely note difference in panto and frame wrap from previous pair to this one.

What are the progressives design? What are the old and new frame dimensions?

While wearing his previous pair have him focus on a distant object and cover one lens/eye then the other turning his head slightly left and right as a baseline.

Do the same with the new pair.

Is one eye the issue or both?

If possible crank or rotate the right to a closer match to old axis. See if that helps.

Sometimes the "chair" world and the real world rx's (in this case axis) create problems.

You're sure they are not fitted too high???

I would also look for a wave in the lens. But I have had times when I cannot find anything in the lens but go ahead a order another one and comes to find out the pt was picking up something that I could not.
Or maybe just set the glasses on the shelf and let it "soak up the sunshine" for a week, sprinkle some pixie dust on them call the pt to come get them and by golly you have fixed it!
