    Help choosing a new edger

    Hello everyone,

I apologise in advance because my main language isn't English.

I am working at an optics store and we are looking for a new Edger and are indecisive on brand.

We are operating from Portugal, and currently have the following models/brands "available":

    -Briot Alta Evolution
    -Huvitz HPE 410
    -Essilor Neksia

I have researched the forum and can see santinelli edgers are highly recommended however I don't think we have these here.

Hope any of you can provide a helping opinion 😀

    Thank you,
    Best Regards

Try these guys Optometron, Equipamentos Técnicos e Electrónicos, Lda

Nidek agency which will be pretty much the same as Santtinelli.

    Thank you for the contact!

You prefer Nidek to any of the ones I mentioned? The reason we have the Briot on the list is because we have previously worked with it and are ok. Do you think it is worth it changing to a different system?

We are an average production company, so we only have very large and performing lights (Mei TBA), there is a smaller laboratory model that makes you work in cutter (much faster performing with strange silhouettes), makes you foratre , polishing edge etc.
We are very many of the largest model and assistance

You may want to look at the Weco E.6. Same family as the Briot, and is quite capable at a good price point. Throughput is better than Santinelli, processes shelving and drills, and IMHO, more robust.
I bend light. That is what I do.

All good advice above, but a large part of your decision is availability of parts/tech’s. You wanna be up and running again as soon as possible after going down, which you will sooner or later..

And with Santinelli no longer being independent, service is not what it used to be.

I have used both Nidek and Weco in the past. Full disclosure, I was factory trained in Japan to service Nidek products.
Having said that I agree with one of the other comments that ease of service is a big factor in selecting which brand to go with. An agency that has technicians on staff or access to qualified technicians that can quickly and efficiently attend to any breakdowns should be a big part of your decision making process.

I have been looking at other stores and Briot seems to have the best parts/techs as @lensmanmd said.

Does anyone in particular have this Briot Alta Evolution that can provide an opinion of use, maintenance, etc..?

Mình đang dùng máy Briot Couture cao cấp nhất hơn 1 năm nay bị lỗi và dịch vụ bảo trì ở Việt Nam cực kì tệ, trong vòng 1 tháng mình phải gửi máy tới 3 lần dù chỉ có 1 lỗi nhỏ. máy không thể hoạt độngClick image for larger version.
