Gone are the days when we went to a school and were recruited or through serendipity found ourselves as apprentices and became an Optician from mentors.
Video anecdotally seemed spot on!!!
Second thought OD's lacking all 3 I would make much less than 10% actively practicing as they will use the advanced education in other fields.
Or am I off in my assumption...

I would say that after they have run a business into the ground they will bail out and go to work for someone else - most often some corporate chain where they have the luxury of flying under the radar and still get paid enough to work on those $100K+ in student loans. It isn't like the skill set of a doctorate in optometry provides many options outside being an OD.
