Question You have to pick one "standard" PAL for Insurance. Which one is it?

If you have to choose one single "standard" EyeMed / Davis / Spectera PAL design for the patients who "only want what's covered," which one is it? Between Natural, Ovation, Image, etc. A "why" portion of the answer would be helpful.

Please don't use this thread to talk about patient education or upselling. Assume that has all been done to the best of our ability.

Natural was an extremely successful design for many years, I think of it as the Comfort of Essilor's basic designs. It was followed by the Ovation which was a flop. Image is an old workhorse that has always been good. Those designs still have the classic "soft" (Natural) vs "hard" (Image) distinction so it may be useful to keep both of those in mind depending upon your patient.

Spectera is the most restrictive of the three, Natural/Ovation aren't even in their basic category (those are "deluxe" lenses!). Guess you're stuck there with Image, it's the only lens standard in all formularies.

Shamir and Zeiss have ridiculously good "standard" PALs.
