Have you heard of an office charging for a poly or AR warranty?

Our office charges a $10 fee, to cover return shipping, time spent reordering, edging, etc.
What's a "poly warranty"?
US Vision would charge 25 bucks for a warranty. Wanted any kind of warranty work done, period? Needed that warranty or you were SOL
In theory, the poly or AR price includes it's warranty. Poly 1 year, AR 2 year. Most labs should honor that and not charge for the remake, energy, or shipping. Only thing to think about is a "processing fee" but that depends on... ya know... Whatever you decide your time is worth. Optical overlord say's our time is worth exactly 0 dollars and 0 cents
First remake was always free unless chewed by a pet
we had a handful of patients that really abused the warranties so after the first oops I’d there was a charge (unless it was a true manufacturer defect)
Progressive wearers were thrilled to only pay $25 to replace their scratched lenses especially when they were at fault.
Think of it this way your watch has a warranty and when you send it in there is a charge for postage and handling.
You should charge something for warranty services. Ideally as Fleyed said it would be built in to your fees, but few of us operate in the ideal situation of primarily private pay. With managed care controlling your allowable fees, anything not explicitly required by the insurance for that fee should be parted out and charged for separately. I have not seen any vision plans claim to cover, include, or require warranties, so if you offer them you ought to charge for them.
When I worked for MyEyeDr, we sold a "warranty" for $20 at the time of sale. If you didn't buy it, you were out of luck if anything happened. That was back in 2017 though and it seems it varied from office to office.
