    Reverse Slab

How are these made these days? I was under the impressions that digital surfacing allows for this to happen on the back surface without having to order a special semifinished blank?

My lab can do a normal slab but can't do a reverse.. how does that even work?!!??! They were pushing the use of their own propietary lens to get that @#$!%

AFAIK reverse slab is on the front side, precast on a FT28 blank from Younger.

Maybe I used the wrong terminology or does it have to do with how the prism is calculated? The dr was just asking it on the lower minus instead. ex

They want it on the right eye instead.

If the doc wants it on the right eye they need a reverse-slab. FT28 only.

    Rule of thumb
    least minus/most plus - reverse slab - BD ^
    most minus/least plus - standard slab - BU ^
I bend light. That is what I do.

I don’t believe Younger makes the product anymore. Contact Quest optical in Florida they might be able to make one out of two pieces bonded together. This is possible if they want to do it and you are willing to pay.

I'm guessing the doctor is requesting OD for slab-off in order to balance thickness.

Reverse slab-off precast blanks require a special ring for blocking which your lab may not have nor experience with this process.
