    Benefits of adjustable objective lenses

    Why do some rifle scopes have adjustable objective lenses (AO) and what are the benefits of adjustable objective lenses?

    To correct for uncorrected spherical refractive error, if shooting uncorrected. But astigmatism makes shooting uncorrected pretty rare.
