Is a Rodenstock allowed? Haven't worked with it for some time but when I did it was an amazing lens for "wow" effects.

IOT Camber Steady Plus. I have a low add, but these lenses seriously felt like SV lenses when I first put them on. Zero adaption time.

Here's why I ask. I think opticians are "built" and not "found". There's a dearth. So you have to start somewhere, right?

One of the finer points of opticianry is lens design. You don't start with nuance...that takes time.

Lenses like...say...Autograph take the thinking away from the noob-tician. Just order a higher-level of lens, make the corridor variable, and let the software do the thinking for you.

Is it ideal? Nope. Is it the future? Possibly/probably.

Does each person have a Goldilocks PAL that will magically work better for them than any other, a soulmate lens as it were? I'd be willing to wager there are a dozen or more that would be rated as "best" for each person. If you're peddling high end custom lenses, it's best to let the PhD's handle the lens design. Myopes need shorter corridors, hyperopes need longer corridors,(I know you love this one DrK). But how much shorter? How much longer? Let the lens designers design the lenses at this point. Pick a company you like, pick a couple price points you like and let it fly. You want to pick the Distance, Near, or Int. design after a 40 point questionnaire and a steak dinner, go for it. People would be much better served by a second pair for specifics though.

If you are still fitting grinders and basic FF lenses, then you might need to mess with them a bit more for better results.

But no one is going to convince me that Patient A needs a Autograph 3, patient B needs a Hoya ID mystyle 2, Patient C needs a Zeiss smartlife individual, come on now.

FWIW my non adapt/remake rate is < 1%. Surely I'm going to jinx myself, but I honestly can not remember my last "non-adapt".

I believe Robert Martellaro notes that Myopes like shorter corridors Hyperopes longer from previous generalized corridor length discussions we've had, so I find a 15mm fixed hits a one lens sweet spot.

Robert is one of my gurus like you drk, that I willingly genuflect too.
