    Favorite Christmas Movies

What is your favorite Christmas Movie? I'm going to suggest one that you may never have heard of or mentioned in all the countless lists of yuletide favorites:

This is a great movie starring Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov as escaped convicts who end up in the home of a kind but failing business man and his family. This movie has great dialog and acting and has become one my favorite feel-good movies of all time.

    Hi Steve,

Unusual cast for tis genre, almost like using Charles Bronson for a Thanksgiving movie. I'll check it out asap.

    Let it snow!

Here are three of my favorites that are also light on saccharine, but with plenty of fun and soul.

    Off the beaten path:

    The Great Rupert 1950

A little squirrel with lots of charm accidentally helps two poor, down-but-NOT-out families overcome their obstacles.
    Early George Pal special effects.

    A Child's Christmas in Wales 1987

A child's perspective of Christmas from a prose poem by Dylan Thomas, with a wonderful narration by Denholm Elliott, and plenty of old country adults for a little texture.

    Somewhat mainstream:

    The Muppet Christmas Carol 1992

Michael Caine plays it straight as scrooge (Humphry Bogart was his screen idol in the 50's). Disney+.
