    Mirror Coat, Not Gradient

Anyone know of a coating facility that can coat a lens with a straight line? Not a gradient lens. 1.67 polar w/ Gold top mirror. Customer wants coating to match mirror as on this picture.Click image for larger version.

Any coating facility can do that it is just a matter of masking off the part of the lens you want clear.

The guy we had want it, wanted it for poker, he didn't understand what I tried to tell him about the mirror in the top, that they would be able to see his cards. He wanted the bifocal clear. when he picked them up I handed him a few cards and asked him the look in the mirror while holding the cards facing him. He cussed himself a little while then left with them. He never used them for the purpose of card playing. LOL

I've called coating labs, but they don't seem to want to be bothered with it. (Or maybe their customer service reps)

It's not too different from the ancient Ray Ban Pilot lens. It was a caravan with clear lens, and a mirror coat with a cut our where a bifocal might be positioned.

Lol! Sometimes you think you have the perfect plan... You may have saved him a lot of money in the long run by tipping him off!

Now THAT would be quite the racket! Fit every poker enthusiast in town with mirrored lenses. Then, get into to poker yourself - but go glasses free, because, you know, you're an honest guy and you've got nothing to hide. Win all the money. Possibly get taken out by the mob when they get wise.

There was a Chanel sunglass style awhile back was a half tinted lens. The top was 80% gray and the bottom half was clear, with no gradient. At the time I thought they were really cool but also couldn't afford anything from Chanel. I think a half mirror would be really cool, just aesthetically. There is a round Versace sunglass frame that is gold with gray lenses. A half mirror coat in gold would make them look even fancier. I have this frame and now I am getting ideas. Lab already probably thinks I'm weird anyway, now they really will think I'm nuts.

I don't mind swimming, just not with the fishes.
That's 1 way to put your lab to the test.
