Schneider HSC Sprint Generator Lens Defect

    Hello All,

I'm experiencing a defect with a generator where a flower pattern is appearing after lens generation. The machine is maintained correctly and although the defect is faint, once coated polished and coated, it appears quite visibly. All main internals for the machine have been replaced. Any ideas what could be causing a faint flower pattern on the lens during generation?

    Thanks

Is this present on all lens materials and curve ranges. Does it happen when grinding a conventional curve or a free form design.

Hello! I appreciate the response. The center defect is present on all lens materials and curve ranges. This is happening with free form design.

If I am following you correctly this is only a FF problem. That would almost rule out a mechanical problem with the machine. I would first try a bad polishing pad and one with the wrong curve to see if the problem gets worse. I would put a new diamond in the machine and observe the change. Contact the software provider for you FF designs. If possible generate a few lens and have some other lab try to polish them.

Follow up question. Do you use the Schneider for STP?
Along with Lensman11, this may be an issue with your macros if it is only on FF. The reason I ask if you are doing STP on conventional lenses is that your diamond itself may be bad/out of true.
I bend light. That is what I do.

I appreciate the ideas! We had previously changed the diamond out but no change. We are going to investigate further with the macros and the polishing.

I remember years ago when Optogenics brought in FF in house, they had issues with Mark’s not polishing out. They told me a lacquer hard coated backside fixed the issue. (Filled in the “marks”.)
