    New pump for Santinelli LE-1000

Friends, I'm at the end of my rope. I've just had my third pump die in two years. All Little Giant pumps with excellent reputations. Any recommendations? This thing is driving me out of my tiny little mind.

Andrew, which pumps are you getting? We had gotten another one and it died less than a year. But we got one directly from Santinelli next and it's chugged along for two years. Have to take it out and clean all the trivex bits out of it once a month but about it.

It may not be an option for you, but I was having the same troubles with pumps and had a plumber install a dedicated drain for the edger -- no pump necessary. The water goes through a sock and spills into a utility sink and goes down the drain. It was expensive but, for me, worth the money.

That sounds great. Not an option here, sadly.

I've ordered an ABS-2 pump. Same model as the one that originally came with the unit. And I guess I just have to be more diligent about cleaning.

The ABS-2 is definitely better. I went back and looked. The Little Giant submersible was the one that kept dying. We just edged too much (a lot of Trivex which clogs easily if it gets into the bucket.) They died too quick. We then got the pump system straight from Santinelli (Sios) and it hasn't quit in two years. I tried looking it up but it doesn't have a name or anything on it and don't have access to the machine atm.

It's worth the money. And I hate the direct drain method. Pump is so much better and cleaner

Our edger came with a Little Giant 6-CIA, and its been going strong since it was installed.
