    How often do you reorder your stock

    Hello everyone 👋🏼

    How often do you replenish your inventory?

    Do you order your best sellers right away once they are sold or wait for the sales rep to come in again to place a bulk order?

    Do you wait for the sales rep to reach out to you?

    Curious to know re-order strategies.

    I have recently adopted a best sellers list which we must have at all times if possible.

    I have a board allocation system. Right now, due to covid we are not as busy so I have kept my inventory low. When I sell around 5-10 frames that are all from the same company, I usually email the rep an order. (I try to reorder the same frames but with a trusted rep, I will let them substitute if backordered etc.) If the rep is due in soon, I will hold for the appointment. I find emailing the rep is a nice thing to do. So often they have to do so many sales calls and my order will count. It's a small thing to do to make them happy and they take good care of us. By the way... I don't work with bad reps. If they're bad, they get dropped.

    We usually order once there are at least 4-5 frames needed from a certain manufacturer. We don't keep extras of anything on hand. If we sell a frame, we actually use that frame for the patient and order a new one to put back on the frame boards. We are a small optical shop though. There are only two opticians including myself and we only work one at a time. I hate playing phone tag and emailing back and forth with reps, so for the most part, we just call the manufacturers directly to order. It's just easier and more efficient for us that way.
