Tips on adjusting unadjustable Raybans?

Anyone have any insight into actually adjusting the lousy injection-molded plastics such as the 7066? These are embarassing.

I like to take them, wrap them up and wait for the rep to return to exchange them for a better frame.

I'm old (ancient?) school and love my bead pan for its ability to heat frames fast.

Does any other Optiboarder use one???

Seems like rayban is incorporating more and more optician-unfriendly designs in their frames, like the carbon fiber temples that cannot be adjusted at all. I just return the problematic ones to our rep and exchange for better.

I solved the issue long ago...I QUIT carrying all Lux products!
I use a salt pan!

I bought rubber coated gloves from the hardware store so I could heat the heck out of these unfriendly plastic frames without burning my flesh off. Sometimes you have to nearly melt it and then hold it in place for a minute or two and then run under cold water. Sometimes the plastic just does not want to hold the adjustment and splays back out. We stopped carrying Ray-ban and the doc wants us to look into bringing them back, but I am thinking we should only do sunglasses.

Thanks for the responses! I thought I would melt or shrink them if I gave them THAT much heat. Total cr@pola nonetheless.

It's helpful for practice with a heat gun which have a screen to show the temperature.

If there are a simple tool which can adjust the frame slightly, acting like the machine used for the factory, I think that would be better.

What temperature do you set them at and do you have a picture you can share of what they look like in a factory?

With Covid, we only use the blower, but precovid I used both. Blower for some things and salt pan for others. I miss using the salt pan.

Attachment 14939 Attachment 14938Hi Uncle Fester, the heat gun I try before, the pictures I toke are from Internet. The first one is usually for phone repair. It's easy to control, held in position then you can move your glasses instead of heat gun, and the heat is concentrated. But it's expensive. The second one can heat large area, and low cost, but the real temperature it blow is not exactly like the screen showed. It's good to test temperature slowly, because how you move and blow would decide the temperature you use I think. Maybe we can get some similar cheap frame for practices. But I don't have 7066 so I am not sure how tough it's. Let me ask my friends.Next time maybe I can show some pictures from factory.
