Zeiss (Smartlife) Superb question re: wrap compensation.

I can't get a clear answer on this one.

Can I use (Smartlife) Superb for a wrap sunglass PAL? Can I specify wrap, or can someone/something at the lab specify wrap?

Yes, I know the (Smartlife) Individual offers that option.

But the Superb seems to offer pantoscopic tilt individualization. What about faceform?

OK, I'm hearing that all the Smart Life lenses (be it the Superb/Plus/Pure design or the Invidudual design(s) are automatically given correct face form compensation without special request.

In Australia, only Superb and Individual Smartlife lenses can have the Face Wrap Angle Specified.
Pure and Plus don't unfortunately. They just go off an assumed average face fit position: 12mm vertex distance, 6 degree wrap and 10 degree panto off the top of my head.
Pure just has 3 corridor choices while Plus has corridor choice down the the 0.1mm from memory.

    Apar! Thank you!

I was initially told the same, then I was told otherwise. I don't know if I can get a straight answer.

Occasionally Brent McArdle will post and clear up Zeiss questions.

You are much better using the precision superb for sport purposes. Better optimisation for wraps and a bigger distance zone

Love the answers from our great opticians in the UK and AUS.

Robert, you say the Superb has a "bigger distance zone". Compared to what?

Compared to smartlife which has more intermediate and is generally 'softer'

No. I mean Precision Superb. The previous generation Superb, from before Smartlife. Maybe they just call it Superb in the US.

I sell 90% Smartlife but Precision would be better for this use case.

You can specify a wrap and pantoscopic tilt on SmartLife Superb or SmartLife Individual.
Max wrap is 15 degrees and Max pantoscopic tilt is 30 degrees.
There is an Individual Sport which offers a max wrap of 35 degrees and max pantoscopic tilt of 30 degrees.

So, if I get this right, tell me:

"All Smartlife lenses are automatically compensated for the frames face-form, without request, to the maximum limit of 15 degrees. If more than 15 degrees are needed, then one must request a Smartlife Individual Sport design".

And, really, knowing that 15 degrees is kind of a cut-off between funky ophthalmic designs and true sport-wrapped frames (who tend to have 20 up), if you have a wrapped sunglass, simply go with the Individual Sport.

(Having said that, many of us try to get away with less wrap compensation than called for. Heh.)

SmartLife Pure and SmartLife Plus are compensated for default PoW and cannot be changed.
SmartLife Superb and SmartLife Individual can be changed or altered from default PoW. If not PoW is given for these two, default PoW will be used.
    Default PoW are:
    Wrap 5.5 degrees
    Pantoscopic Tilt 7.5 degrees
    Vertex 12 mm

Keep in mind the prescription is not compensated for fitted vs refracted. It is used for other calculations.
If you need to compensated for fitted vertex then you need to perform the calculations.

    Yes, this is correct.

We do not offer the Superb Sport in the US only Individual Sport.

Ah, sorry for suggesting something you couldn't get.

For what it's worth, there's loads we can't get either in the UK. Even if I ask really nicely.
