    Breakfast on the wing

Conowingo Dam in Maryland, is a hotspot for birds and fishermen alike (for the same reason). Food, in the form of fish, is plentiful, and on many days, hundreds of eagles, herons, osprey, and cormorants will be found there. This was a very lucky shot, as he flew almost directly overhead. It was overcast, and lighting was tricky, but I think it turned out well enough.

A couple years ago, I was swimming with my niece and nephews in the local lake and we watched as an eagle swooped down to snag an eel and proceed to fly over us to perch in some pines across the lake. Magical experience. I wish I had a camera on me but alas, being waist deep in water, I did not. (Not that I could have captured this sort of quality!)
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Always seems that (for me anyway) the BEST shots are always the ones when I DON'T have my camera on me either! Hehehe - you're not alone there. Thanks for the kind words! :)

Wow! Great shot! We had a pair of bald eagles hanging around outside our house awhile back. I had never seen them in a residential area before. Glad to see they are doing a lot better these days.

They're awesome to watch - and amazing just how big they are when they fly close overhead. At Conowingo Dam where I was watching these guys, there are literally hundreds of eagles. It's jaw droppingly awesome to see!
