    graduated tint with uv

    Hello,
I don't know if i worry too much!
I ordered a set of lenses with graduated 85% abs (with back mar) this company makes you pay for the uv which I think it should be by default
Anyway the tint they use must come with uv built in as the clear part about 30% of the lens doesnt have uv protection
I would like it to have but wondered what you good people thought
    thanks
    Alan
(I think I will stick them in my uv bath at a low temp as the front should absorb it)

If they charge for UV as an extra service, then the lenses should have UV. You paid for it and then you want to add UV yourself? Nope. Send it back.

I'm not aware of tints that include the UV coat. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but in my experience, it is customary to UV coat the entire lens, then add a tint in whatever variation. This would result in the entire lens being UV protected regardless of where the tint is.
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?

Thank you all for your replies!
I prefer when I tint myself to put the UV bloc on then tint however you can get tints that include a UV

https://www.bondeyeoptical.co.uk/bon...ction-4-oz-g15 (although looks like they are being discontinued)

Because this client wanted MAR on the back I had to get the lab to tint and because they must have used a tint with UV bloc the bottom 3rd of the lens has no uv protection which I am personally not happy about ie bounced UV etc

    Thanks!

    Alan

    Simple fix.
If UV is charged for, it should be UV coated. Period. Esp w/grads.
I bend light. That is what I do.

Thanks for the reply it has uv block in the tinted area but not the clear bottom

It could be said if the frame was shallower it would be the same as that

But I would still have liked that bit UV protected

Hope it makes sense what I am saying
