Interesting Patient, Too Bad They Are a PITA

Interesting patient today, an antimetropic amblyopic myope with severe unilateral astigmatism (6 cyl, the other eye has none), and minor convergence insufficiency only in near vision due to neurogenic oculomotor issues that are a remnant of an ischemic stroke caused by an idiopathic vascular event. The sad part is the patient is only 34.

It's too bad they are such a pain in the sas! Patient is also an MD, who was previously an optician many years ago. Wants to tell everyone from the optometrist on down how to do their jobs. It is driving everyone mad!

Price the job accordingly. (Preferably too much to afford...)

Years ago we called it a PITA fee but then the term became too common.

I have only done this once, but there are times when thinking back on it, I should have done this more... "I'm sorry we are unable to help you more. Perhaps you can find an office that is able to give you what you need." If they are that bad, sometimes there is something to be said for self preservation.
