Amblyopia - Any Special Fitting Instructions?

My customer has only 10% vison in his right eye. Light and shapes only, zero focus.

We will only use Progressive in his left eye (which is 20/20), and single vision balance in his lazy eye.

Should we measure differently based on his condition?

    Welcome to OB.

Good move for an eye that counts fingers only, if that, and will save the client money.

Measure the monocular PD only, and would probably be best to do so with the fellow eye occluded. The good eye should have a spectacle lens size and design that provides for good eccentric vision, with a narrow temple positioned away from the extreme peripheral gaze. A close fit (vertex distance) also improves the visual field.

Check the near PD for atypical convergence. Consider SVNO or segmented multifocal task eyeglasses for those that need them, avid readers for example.

Last but not least, use poly or trivex for safety, and maybe bump the minimum thickness a few tenths if possible.

    Hope this helps,
