    Hoya HVLL Coating

A pt had recently got a Hoya HVLL coated lens, previously all his older pairs are made with HVP. All pairs are made with 1.60 index material of around -6.75 to -7.25.
Pt complained that the newer HVLL coat seems to make the things look dimmer and slightly yellowish at night although no Blue Control was opted on the lens. Pt mentioned that during daytime he noticed reduced glare from sun reflections on car windows, but his night vision within indoor lighted environment appears quite a level dimmer than when he wore the HVP coated lenses.

Does anyone have similar feedbacks regards to HVLL?

My guesses would be might Hoya have formulated a sort of new anti-glare or glare reduction property into the HVLL which had the side effects of reducing the brightness of indoor lighting?

We put the lenses upon a white paper but was unable to see any obvious signs of tint or yellowishness.

The AR reflection colour is greenish and sometimes purplish depending on the angles.

I can tell you categorically it isn't the coating. Most likely the patient has early cataract.
