    Plastic with nylon cord

Have a frame made of zyl (plastic) holds lenses via nylon cord. Ends of cord are flattened to keep them from going through the holes. Tried to heat end of cord to form a ball to hold the cord. Ball is not acceptable as it will hit the nose when wearing. How can I form the flat "disc" at the end of the cord? Seen this before? Have two and would be oh so appreciative for a suggestion.

Silhouette came out with those and they have a TINY metal piece that holds the nylon...I was like OH HELL NO and sent them all back!!!
As for your problem instead of a ball I make a flattened line as best as possible to keep it from pulling out just don't make it too tight or you'll pull it out. I have burned my fingers so bad before so be careful and good luck.

I heat the nasal string tip with a flame. It melts to form a ball- then I tap that still hot ball on the table top to flatten it.

Then I do the same to the outer eye wire string and hope I got the length right!

Don't hold the flame too close or it will burn and discolor the string. If the sting is too thin it is much more difficult to get the tip to stay. I use 25lb or 30lb test, sports store bought fishing line.

May take a few tries. You'll get better with experience.

Not a big deal to do these days and I sell a fair number of these $500 Silhouette frames.

A bic-type lighter and a stainless steel Pd ruler is your friend in this task.

I've seen some cool opticians use colored fishing wire to string nylon suspension.

I totally dig that type of optician.

Way back when, I believe it was Tura that would include different colored monofilament with their semi-rimless frames.

You can just drop the cord in the dye pot for a bit and make whatever color cord you want.
