    custom clip on in-house

After years of tinkering and a lot of trial and error, I finally put together my first real in-house custom clip for a patient.

I developed a no-glue rimless in-house custom clip on that I put together using my Nidek ME 900 to make the slots.

Easy to assemble, disassemble, to change out lenses if necessary for either a scratch or redo.

Here are her +9.00 OU add 2.25 progressives (1.74 physio 6.5 base) and the clip on. I used 6 base PC (2.0 mm) sun lenses.

The client really wanted a clip and so she now owns my "genesis" clip and I hope she comes in tomorrow to pick them up.

20 minutes from start to finish, 14 of which are the edger edging, 6 minutes for prep and for mounting.

I hope to upload a video eventually showing how I put this together.

    Nice job.

I used to make those back in 2005.

    They are not easy.

We did a lot of Made in the Shades custom clips in Albany about 20 years ago. Decent product. Very hard work, though.

I have had some previous rimless custom clip on products in the past and I could not get them to work. I am not familiar with made in the shades though.

This new system has been tweaked so there is no manual skill required at all, no glue and no rivets - so that the machine does 99% of the work automatically and anyone can just mount the lenses in seconds.

Does require a machine like the Nidek 900 though.
