Smart move on their part. They were going to be dealing with a number of angry people otherwise.

I do not see that on the VSP online web site.

Until I see it there I'm still working under the assumption that it starts Sept. 1st.

If true it really pulls the rug out from under me anyway as I've been switching patients to Unity and getting feedback on Via.

Nothing surprises me with managed care these days however.

Very happy for those of us who are not the biggest fans of techshield elite anti-bacterial...

Knock wood so far so good.

Everyone needs to remember the Techsheild Elite Anti-Bacterial is to make sure we are using a VSP AR to get maximum reimbursement.

That it may do some voodoo to kill bacteria is not why they patented it imo.

Oh of course! Did they also invent an anti-bacterial coating to put on the frames? What good is having anti-bacterial lenses if the frame and nosepads are a swamp of bacteria? I wonder if there was anything going on behind the scenes with the two monopolies fighting it out for dominance?

We also got the email saying that they delayed it until the end of the year. I suspect it's because they were having problems with the antibacterial AR. I got several phone calls about jobs with that coating asking if it was alright to switch to the regular unity elite because they were having a hard time processing the antibacterial AR. Not even all of their labs were equipped to process it. We use the Dallas lab and were told they had to outsource those jobs. The antibacterial AR isn't even showing up as an option anymore.

The changes for preferred and non preferred got pushed back to Jan 1 2021. The changes to the Choice plan kick in today. They change it to be more like signature plan and the choice is just set copays now

Which unless you have a very low U&C for your products you will be taking a loss on this change too. At least for the time being we can choose what lab we want to use on the choice plan.

I can’t figure out why an anti bacterial anti reflective is needed at all. What a dumb idea!
