Quig, I was riding down the interstate yesterday and this song came on the radio. I immediately thought of your friend and thought you might enjoy it. You might have heard it before, but if you're not a country music fan I would still encourage you to listen to this one...I think it sums up that generation so beautifully!

I'm a big Jamey Johnson fan. I know the song well and enjoy it. Thanks.

"Thanks for the link! And, my gawd, look at that guy climbing into that turret. Nuts. We've gotten so damn soft... They don't call them the 'Greatest Generation' for no reason."

The pic shows probably a ground crew member climbing in as I believe the gunner would access it from the fuselage with the turret opening rotated up. He'd be wearing a classic heavily insulated leather bomber jacket as it gets well below zero at the altitude they'd fly at.

Chicks dig guys who know how to hand bevel lenses. Even wives get a kick out of it.

I cut my teeth as a "fast food optician" working for the evil empire for 15 years and now I got into private practice it has been a whirlwind couple of years. Feel like I am a much better optician now, who knew?

What tips do the experience opticians and technicians have that they can share?

A lot of patients are not willing to spend on new lenses, they want their existing lenses edged into another frame.

Also Do you have to be careful when your dealing with progressives not to cut off the reading zone?
    Practice is key

Hand edging is a definite skill set, many walk in's are due to nobody else in town willing to try. As an optician, it's our job to problem solve for the patient. I can't begin to explain all the trickery I have had to accomplish over my 20 years of Optical, and I hope to continue the trickery for 20 more. Love to see the joy and relief in the "eyes" of my patience, especially when they have been told by so many that they can't be helped . I even have opticians in other optical shops send me their patients to accomplish these feats of magical opticianry. lol
