  • Clearly, Warby, Bonlook selling glasses online (No optician)

    Hello everyone,

How does clearly operate selling glasses online without opticians, one thing I have noticed is that all these companies ship out of or have head quarters if I’m not mistaken in British Columbia, can someone shed some light on this?

How are they able to ship to Ontario when it is regulated here?

Your regulatory College isn’t quite what most think it is. You are wasting your money and license fees if you believe opticians are the only ones who can dispense into Ontario. The closer truth is that if you are an optician then it’s YOU who is being regulated. Your license fees buy you the right to be disciplined by your College and buys you the right to use their Trademarked title. The fees you pay to relicense are like a never ending tax on the knowledge you gained from courses taken at a Trade school. It’s a life long money pit for you and great revenue stream for them. That’s it, that’s all in my opinion. You are not buying territorial protection. Read the court transcripts if you want a real understanding. Also read any lawsuits outstanding against your relevant college, including members suing your relevant college. If you are good at digging into SEC filings then you will also see a much bigger picture of what opticians are up against.
