I gotta post something about my PAL experience.

OK, I'm -7.00 +2.50 add. I work on a desktop all day long.

I have free PALs, because, yeah.

I have Autograph IIs and IIIs: my computer is just fine.
I have Varilux X: the intermediate is virtually non-existant.

Now, this is good news, really. The Autograph does a darn good job on intermediate tasks as a general purpose PAL. Yeah, the 180 doesn't get much respect. But I don't drive that much at night (where it's really noticeable).

I think a lot of people would make the trade.

Have you tried the Zeiss ID2 Intermediate? Distance is great and the Intermediate is nice. Unless I am on the computer for hours at a time, the ID2I fits my needs.
I would rather go with great distance. I can use an Office style lens for heavy computer work. I use all three modalities of the IOT, depending on my needs.
I bend light. That is what I do.

I just can't get Zeiss easily, anymore.

I use a crappy VSP lab, and a good but still Essilor owned Eyemed lab.

VSP can get Zeiss for me, but man.

What is your lab set to do?

Let's make a threesome and pm me too.

We'll try outside the Ess/lor suicide box of lenses.

Be forewarned- I will call it like I see it!!!

Fes. I believe that we have had similar discussions via PM before?

My apologies. Yes you did and I should clarify matching brands. Is the Alpha 45 what you'd suggest for drk as well? Or with his strong myopic rx would another design be better?

I looked up the old post and will try to find a frame that fits this Neanderthal face (24 bridge). So far Silhouette's with a custom B are the best I find I can fit. I'm in a Dynamic Color Wave Accent Rings in black. They make me look like Mr. Wilson from the movie Up. I like them but I still wish the B could be deeper.

I would still go with the Zeiss ID2I for distance and intermediate. My experience with both? Alpha 45 Ultimate is better in the distance and near. ID2I is better in the intermediate, with good DV.
There is an Alpha 45 Intermediate modality, we don’t offer it, however, to keep things simple for our opticians.

The IOT Alpha Mobile is similar in design philosophy to an Auto 3 that can help at the intermediate.

I'm going to add another vote for the ID2I. That series in general is easily the best lens design that I've worn and I can count one one hand the number of ID2 patients I've had to restyle into a different design. That said, the Auto III is our practice's workhorse progressive. Really solid performer and relatively inexpensive for a premium digital PAL. It's what I'm currently wearing and, while shifting focal distances and overall clarity was definitely better for me in the ID2, I have no complaints with the Auto III whatsoever.
