    Confused Safety lenses and AR coating

    Good evening.
    I have a request for a pair of safety spectacles with AR coating.
    I remember reading some time ago that the application of an AR coat on a lens changes the material surface so that the impact resistance of the lens is compromised.
    Can anyone help in confirming whether this is valid or not?
    Can anyone direct me to literature that discusses this topic?
