Anti-fatigue lens prescribed to 8 yr old

My 8 yr old was prescribed an anti-fatigue lens with no convergence problems, no headaches and real visual complaints other than slight blurry vision. She has had exams in the past with no detection of any issues and this will be her first glasses. She's on a tablet throughout the day for school.

    RX:
    Od: +0.50-0.25x025
    Os: +0.50
    Add: +1.25

    Thoughts? Oversold? Overcorrected?

Maybe the doctor gave that add for some accommodative relief? I know that prescribing a small add to children as a means to slow myopia progression is a pretty common practice, but that wouldn't apply in this case.

The thing I find interesting (or confusing) if the doctor prescribed a +1.25 add, why would he/she recommend an anti-fatigue lens? Anti-fatigue lenses don't have a true add, more of a power 'bump' below the OC and that power bump doesn't come close to +1.25 for most lenses. The Shamir Relax is just over +0.50 and even the EYEZEN3 tops out around a +0.75 bump and most other anti-fatigue lenses are within that range. The only lens I know of that would be close to a +1.25 bump in power would be the Hoya SYNC III 13.

Why not talk to the doctor?

That's not an anti-fatigue RX, that's a straight-up multifocal. Ask the doctor for clarification.

BTW anti-fatigue lenses are PALs they just have a lower add so require less blending. 1.25 is above the add in any anti-fatigue I'm familiar with, but the Eyezen 4 is, I think, a 1.11 or something. Id probably start at something with around a .50 add only if the child is specifically complaining about their eyes getting tired or losing focus.

    Ladyoptician-
I like drk's advice. Did you take it?

Please do follow up. I wonder if the doc isn't getting into some vision therapy practices.
