Help with making glass gray 3 darker

I have a client that does landscaping, so he is outside all day. He does not like any lens but glass, the red that appears in cr-39 is what he really doesn't like. He has been wearing glass gray 3 for quite some time and wants it darker, the lenses are currently 2.2 CT, the rx is SV -1.50 - 1.00. I am considering making the centers 3.2 to increase the density. He says the extra weight would not matter to him. Or perhaps adding a full mirror coating would be better. I have not done much with glass in many years, so I ask for any advice that anyone has.

    TIA,
    Terry

    Terry,

I doubt that any coating will hold up to the abrasive particles that will accumulate on the lenses of a landscaper.

Good idea on bumping the CT to reduce transmittance. Here's a chart that shows the effect on B&L tints.

    Hope this helps,

You could use poly polarized, you could tint darker, they wont show red, then send out for "foundation", a dip coat that is very slippery. That would hold up well with your landscaper

Why are you not looking for a glass polarized lens? Gray will cut the brightness of the light, polarization will cut the glare, glass will provide some scratch resistance and the lamination process of the polarization will will afford "some" not all, protection.

Thanks for the input, He does not care for polar or poly.
The chart from the Job Coach is just what I was looking for Robert!

Pick a frame that comes with a clip on then put gray lenses in the frame.

+1. All other normal options are for some reason unacceptable to your persnickety patient.

P.S. My brother-in-law does landscaping as well, and he would never in a million years wear glass or non-polarized suns.
