    Hydrophobic coating Longevity

How long does the hydrophobic layer of the Anti reflection last, the effectiveness of the coating? Does it differ from brand to brand based on the lens coating technology? I would generally assume at least one year.

Properly fabricated (shape, size, thickness, etc.), low chemical environment, no high heat, proper cleaning/very good care...four to five years on average for the best coatings.

Does it differ from brand to brand
Absolutely. Like grandpa said: you pay, you get.

    Hope this helps,
