Beginning with a more accurate starting point still reduces the chance of the Px having an issue.
I'm not against 1/8 Rxs. As an optician, when I see an Rx like that, I assume it is a patient that is really sensitive and picky. I have no problem filling it. I just add a comment to the lab, must be exact. I've had a patient before come in with an Rx like that and was really happy that we were able to fill the rx. I'm not saying every rx should be written that way, but for a select few, it gets the point across. I have also filled a plano -.12 Rx. The OD only did it because it was a medical issue for a child and the insurance would not cover plano, but they would cover plano -0.12. Roll your eyes now.
