Dress lenses into a safety frame?

    Hello,

Have a patient who would like dress lenses put into a Safety frame. He showed me an article (thanks Google) that stated that it could be done either with a waiver or by filing off the ANSI Z.87 from the frame. Is this true? I turned him away, the liability did not seem worth it.

If there are no markings on a frame designating it a safety frame it is no longer legally a safety frame.

    Here's a challenge-

Find one case where an optician got sued over this.

Do worry about someone slipping and falling in your store and carry adequate insurance for that and you'll also have coverage for some minuscule possibly you'd be the landmark safety frame decision.

PSST- The lawyer looks at the coverage and settles for the client after taking his 30% cut.

You are right....I have NEVER heard of a lawsuit. I am independent, so no biggie. If I worked for a Chain, Legal would be all over me.

    Good advice....Thanks
