    Opaque Ring around minus lenses

We are getting noticable opaque rings around minus lenses-even asking for a matte finish does not fix it-any hints? We have tried smaller round frames without success. One lab says to use an incline bevel-our other lab says that will accentuate the opaque rings......

someone at the lab doesn't know how to use the variable bevel functions on their edger. I fudged up a couple learning the perfect settings. The real issue here is why are they sending them to you looking like that instead of redoing them?

I bet its the back side angle of the bevel is much too steep and/or the width of the bevel is too small

Try using a dressing stick to sharpen bevel wheel. Also check offset value (size differential from rough to bevel stone) If the bevel stone is not cutting efficiently, what you describe is the result.
