Anyone know where one can find a common ordinary frame brush?

Alan: You must be very young. A very soft bristle brush looks a little like a skinny wire brush, used for scrubbing nasty frames when they come in for adjustment or repair. Used to be a standard item in all supply catalogues and optical shops.

    Confused

Due to my youth and vitality, I've never actually seen one, but couldn't you use a toothbrush? :D

    Hello Chip,

I know what you are referring to but I will have to say that since the invention of the tooth brush that Maria mentioned I haven't seen one :-) We too use a tooth brush for those "manky" frames when they come in. Oral B soft bristle seems to work he best.

    Take care,

    Darris C.

After re-reading my post, I should point out that it is a frame brush that I have never seen, not a tooth brush. I know that, with the American dental obsession, I should make that clear. :D

American dental obsession!?! Maybe that's why my wife carries a toothbrush in her purse and always brushes after eating - no matter where we are! She just trying to hold up her end of the National obsession!

    I am so flattered!
    Bless your belly button!
I like to think I'm young at heart, but I took a stress test this morning, and even that issue is over!
    About the brush . . .
Didn't I see Robert Urich advertising an ultrasonic frame brush?
Wouldn't that be cool. Remove the old label and change the name to OptiSonic Frame Brush and charge 50% more like they do with Optical Auctions.

    Unhappy

Toss those nasty frames in an ultrasonic cleaner for 15 or 20 minutes......it will look like new after that. Just have something handy to fish it out of the green water when it is done .....

A good replacement for the old 'frame brush' is a 'denture brush'. It's larger and the bristles come to a point and works very slick!

And a denture brush is different to a tooth brush how? Mind you, I suppose it doesn't have to have a flexible head to get in to all the nooks and crannys, though. Do they make denture brushes that turn a different colour when they're used up, like those toothbrushes you can get? Or do you just have to know? Cause you could apply that to frame cleaning, and you'd always know when it was time to get a new one. You could use that denture glue if you'd run out of Loctite, too.
