I am new to edging and I am looking at getting an edger from an acquaintance. It is an older model the 3D-fit Santinelli 7070 SX. We do not do a high volume so getting the top of the line edger is not within budget or what we need. I am looking for an edger that is going to be able to the majority of lens types, cuts, bevels. And materials: CR 39, poly, Trivex, high index all with AR. And type of lenses: Single Vision, progressives, lined bifocals. And the different frame styles (It doesn't have to do high wrap sunglasses or drill mounts. I will just send those out).
Can this edger do pretty much everything (besides high wrap sunglasses and drill mounts)? or is it more obsolete now days? Maybe not able to do the beveling or other things that are needed for now days lenses and frames.
(Everything I can find about this edger is all from about 10 years ago which says it was a pretty good edger for that time, but I am not sure if it can do now-days lenses and frames.
What would be some of the cons about getting 3D-fit Santinelli 7070 SX that you have encountered?
If a part in this edger breaks are the parts readily available still? Will Santinelli still service this edger?
Can a CE-9 blocker be used with this edger or only a CE-1 blocker?
Can it polish?
Any advise is welcome!
