    Poly carb dye job

Have a pair of poly carb progressives that were digitally surfaced on new Gerber Coburn equipment. After edging for the frame, I dyed them to a solid gray three using BPI tint. The lenses end up with a round circle in the center that is darker than the rest of the lens. Looks like the place the lens is held for processing. Surfaced a new pair, same thing. Have surfaced and finished a third pair but afraid to dye them. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Is it possible for you to post pics of the lenses. Here are my thoughts. First off are you using a surface saver tape? This keeps lenses free off blocking contaminates such as Freebond/Onyx. The circles might be the result of "stress" created from the block. Try relaxing this stress by soaking in a warm to hot water bath for several minutes, shock with cold water then attempt tinting. Hope this helps.

have you tried tinting before edging? that will tell you if it's from edging or surfacing.
