I'm having a debate with a co-worker. When checking for vertical imbalance in a progressive, and the patient has uneven set heights, do you move the lens table to line up with the prism reference point on each lens, or do you start with the lens with the stronger power without moving the table? If you can refer me to any links to show her, that would be helpful.

Think this way- The refraction is based on the measurements in front of the phoropter and the doctor is not adjusting the table when making the refraction, but their eyes are at different heights, so you move the tray to read from the prism reference point on each lens.
P.S. That's why it's called a prism reference point!
