Silhoutte Frame Metal grooved spacer elastic...

So we had issues with the metal grooved Silhouette 2904 metal/plastic grooved rimless. Nice looking frame but I imagine not a labs favorite to work with.

The Rx lenses seemed to never be as tight as the samples.

We found a solution with a very thin elastic that Silhouette sells that is stretched into the groove before insertion. Along with a little soap to help lubricate the insertion it seems to work great.

    Have you heard of it?

Code P00009900250300 If you have the frame you may want to stock a couple...

The elastic band is included with the frame. The frame weighs 2.5g I believe. The Urban Fusion's are conservative looking though, so I sell them mostly to men. I'll see if they've injected some life into the line when my new rep arrives in May.

I charge more than that, but less than list, and don't charge for grooving.

Also I was told by my Silhouette rep that that the demo isn't the proper size and the labs should not be tracing it. They are sized small to be able to remove the demo lens easier. They should us the OMA file that silhouette can provide.

I think that's what must have been done with the first pair of lenses.

Do any of you still use the trick of soaping the edges for easier insertion on jobs like this?

Many years since I've done lab work- but back in the day I found this worked well.

Yeah I have actually send these frames to the lab without the demos and it forces them to use the OMA file. But I agree its unnecessarily complicated.
