    Football goggles

This is the latest thing I've been told to research from the doctor,

"Please call parents to explain latest options with getting "under-footbal-helmet" goggles, or Rx that can be put directly in helmet. Feel free to research some first to be aware of the best things available"

I was under the impression that you can't do RX in a football visor. Maybe some sort of insert but wouldn't that depend on if the helmet can have one? Any suggestions?

We have one patient, whose father is also the football coach. We had to write a note for the school basically saying that due to the padding in the helmet there was no eyewear that would fit under the helmet that would have sufficient protection in the case of a hit to the head and that a prescription shield was necessary.

From what the father told us, it sounds like all the manufacturers of helmets from youth and scholastic football have prescription options, but they have to be ordered directly from the helmet manufacturer.

Liberty Sport makes a model fittingly named "Helmet Specs". We have sold a few with success. Like most of their stuff, it's a bit overpriced IMO but can be a good solution if visor inserts aren't readily available.

Also available in XL size I believe.

Is this an April fools joke a day late? Am I taking crazy pills? How on earth are you going to Rx a visor? Goggles with straps instead of temples. Yup. An optical dock/insert attached to the helmet? Maybe, I've never seen one though, and doesn't seem real practical. Rx in the visor? Not unless someone has drastically advances optics and I am out of the loop.

Kwill212 sorry, I didn't mean to sound dumb. I fixed my post. I meant to say, "I was under the impression that you can't do RX in a football visor"

I actually assumed that was what you meant. But then jpways comment threw me off.

Why not just order the free-form windshield? That way the lab can compensate the Rx for you as long as you supply the vertex distance?

I'm going to have a prescription patio window put in so I can see the pretty birds outside better.
What is reality but a concept unique to each of us? Can anything be classed as real when our perceptions differ greatly on so many things? Just because we see something a particular way does not make it so.
