Sorry, I have tried to contact Chris without success. One thing to note is that many people have constantly complained about Chris - both to me privately and on the forums publicly. In fact, he's been the subject of some people's constant disrespect and ridicule. Perhaps that has something to do with this. I have had a hard time balancing all these conflicting views, but nonetheless I feel that Chis has been a positive contributor to OptiBoard and the larger eyecare community.

I've been one of his critics, but I still appreciate his knowledge and experience, and I know he means well. It was never personal, but there is a happy medium between spamming and disappearing completely. I really hope he is ok. Thanks for replying, Steve.

I just called both numbers... neither are in active service.

I have always appreciated Chris's OptiBoard input, especially when he railed early against the coming effect of internet sales and North American corporate domination of our optical industry. Many of his naysayers were ultimately proven wrong.

I too hope everything is fine with him.

I would imagine the Naples numbers would be inactive when he migrates back to Canada.

Some of his opponents, may not have been transparent in their motives.

I think Steve has done a terrific job balancing fairness.

Luddite and overall hater of all things social media related (THEY"RE ALL SPIES!!!) is anyone on Linked-in to try this link?

I'd assume he's the distinguished elderly gentleman pictured on the first page.

I know I'm new to Optiboard but I have spent a lot of time reading up on old threads and feel like I know some of you already lol. That being said I sensed and understand the genuine concern for Chris so at the risk of sounding morbid I searched obits in Naples and Quebec and found nothing thank goodness. Hopefully he's just taking a break from the forums and enjoying retirement.

Not morbid at all. Good thinking. Thank you for doing this. This takes a little bit off my mind.

I did business with Chris' company for a number of years. I didn't buy much from him, and didn't always speak with him when I ordered stuff, but we had several conversations. After he sold the rights to his formulas to McCray Optical, we had a lengthy conversation when I was trying to buy one of his products.

He is a bright guy and full of useful information, and I enjoyed talking to him. I wish him well.

While we've had our disagreements in the past and all - it may not be wise posting this much of his personal information on a publicly viewed forum?

I am sad to announce that Chris died on April 18th, 2019.

I spoke with a relative who gave me permission to post this.

I conveyed condolences on behalf of Optiboard, and I was sure to let her know that Chris was a giant in the optical field, and friend to many, and that his absence will be felt.

    Here's to you, Chris!

Chris kept a pulse on the optical industry, both in the USA and Canada. His many predications and industry forecasts about future optical developments ultimately proved to be true, despite many naysayers. I too will miss him.

I'd like to recognize Fabian who somehow found Chris' actual phone number. I only placed the call. Thank you Fabian.

    Deeply saddened.

May you sail into the eternal sunset, Chris. You have been, and will be missed.
