    Nikon/Essilor

Is it true that Essilor owns Nikon in Canada? If so, why have they not made this common knowledge to optical retailers? Thanks!

Have you been living under a rock? This is old news now and everybody had their chance globally to cry monopoly with the Lux merger, but nobody did. Due diligence was performed and passed without any major hurdles.

It was approved in every country globally, so welcome to the future.

Essilor is about the only global entity out there with a very diversified portfolio focused on the ophthalmic industry (not endoscopes and hard drives) that outperforms every competitor while being the envy of investors.

I don't see an issue with it.

.............to support my friend "Lab Insight" and his statement, I would like to add that I have started to see the trend of a coming monopoly for at least 16 of the past years and have posted and reported on it on a regular bases, right here on *optiBoard*.

The independent optical retailer is in for a rough ride across the globe, and the North American Continent is their training ground for coming procedures to be introduced for future use.

How is that mean? Unless you're a newbie to the industry which I don't believe you are, you owe it to yourself to stay informed of industry policy changes, legislative proposals and industry politics (including acquisitions & mergers) that may affect us all at some point in the future.

That's what is great about OB. People will chime up and provide facts most of the time.
