Good video. You could add quite a lot to it, particularly about bevel curve, which I think is crucial, and step bevels.

    Couldn't agree with you more!
Bottom line is I just don't have enough experience to cover those topics.
I edged something like 10,000 jobs in my time but never had an edger with any advanced capabilities.

Some of the footage for this one ended up editing room floor.
I actually talked about those things and why I didn't cover them but the final editor didn't keep it in.

The edgers you see in the videos are on loan and come and go frequently.
I literally don't have enough time with them to become comfortable enough to "teach" the concepts.
    I wish I did!

Funny thing is, this was actually answering a question from here on OptiBoard from about 2 years ago.
All it asked was for me to show the differences that bevel placement can make on a simple -7.00 SV lens.
That too ended up on the cutting room floor...

Next time you hit the states stop by Anderson SC and we will shoot the rest.
The studio door is always open for you.
    John

That's cool, no problem. I run a YouTube channel as well so would be happy to collaborate if I ever come to the USA. Alternatively we could talk via skype. I've been doing custom bevels for years with various edgers; we have our own lab and I love the artistry of it. I self-taught myself how to do it; custom bevels (as well as other glazing tricks) can make a job look 10x better, so I totally agree with your sentiments in your video.

To illustrate John’s point about bevel position. This is a -8.25 -3.25@180 OU in 167 (51/17 frame) that I finished tonight. -11.50@90. Bevel is 5 base to match the frame form, with a 33% bevel and a 7 degree incline. Decentration was 2 in and 6 up. A good frame choice overall, but imagine if this was on center! That lower lens profile would almost disappear. Bevel position does matter.
