1.74 lens supplier delays - fire? Something else?

Has anyone else caught word about a disruption in the supply of 1.74 material/lens blanks recently? I've heard it now from two labs, but forget if they said it was a fire, or tsunami, or what exactly might have happened, where, how long supply might be disrupted or any of that. Just curious really...

Supposedly Essilor had a fire. Our lab said they can get it from other sources.

I live near Dallas, I don’t believe it was here. I was told it was a factory in China and it’s effecting Essilor, Hoya and Zeiss. Shamir is not effected.

    (Essilor Employee)
Essilor is currently experiencing a shortage in the supply of some Thin & Lite 1.74 lenses, due to a fire that occurred at one of our manufacturing facilities. There was no lab fire.
The fire only affected some of our 1.74 Thin & Lite products. Supply of Essilor lenses in 1.50, polycarbonate, Trivex, and 1.67 is completely unaffected. Our teams are working to restore supply of 1.74 lenses as quickly as possible, and some 1.74 products will begin to be replenished as soon as later this month. In the meantime, the recommendation is to use 1.67 Thin & Lite as an alternative if your local laboratory indicates 1.74 is not available.
Please work with your local laboratory if you have further questions.
