    Reduction (de)magnifer

I have a customer that has a hand held lens that he calls a reduction lens, it is 3" in diameter with a handle like a magnifier. I measure the power and find -4.00D, biconcave lenses -2.00D each side. He is an artist that uses it to stand in front of a painting at about 3 feet and it allows him to see the entire painting 6'-8' wide. He needs to get a replacement and I have not had any luck finding one. Does anyone know where I could find one?
    Thanks

Does it have to be double concave? What material? If so I would think any lab could make one. I think I could but it would have to be plastic.

Duck soup if you have a hand pan, an 80MM rough lens blank, two laps and the appropriate abrasives. I doubt that you will be able to source this lens through an ophthalmic lab but a precision optics shop should be able to crank it our real easy.

I don't have the equations in front of me to know what % of minification is required but here's a 0.5x and a 0.25x https://ocutech.com/all-products/aid...tunnel-vision/

Without a doubt any lab worth its salt should be able to make one for you. Providing the handle can be taken apart and a new lens inserted.

Therein lies the problem; finding an ophthalmic lab worth its salt.
