High minus polarized progressive lens suggestion needed...

Need your suggestion if you would be so kind.

    R -12.75 -2.25 x 90 L-10.00 -2.00 x 90. add +2.50 1.74 Avance.

In her clear pair she was not comfortable with the W3+ so changed back successfully to her old design Physio Enhanced. She now wants a pair of polarized gray into a small zyl. Ideally I'd keep her in the Enhanced but no such luck in polarized or most other designs in this right eye power.

    Any suggestions?

I would probably just do a physio DRX to keep her in the Varilux family if I was really nervous about changing it. I know its not really the same lens, but I haven't really had any push back from doing this, especially with myopes.

Then again there is always the possibility there was something else wrong with the surfacing of those W3s and it wasn't the design change at all, just that the second set was made better (more digital enhancement = more things the lab can be out of tolerance on) I always hedge towards harder T type designs in sunglasses because peripheral vision is usually the number one request in those types of glasses. Shamir, IOT whatever, as long as the periphery is good.

I always explain to people that Varilux lenses are good, but not the best for sunglasses, except in certain situations.

Rx max power is OD -15.00 at 180.

Shamir's 1.67 is available. Thicker due to index and lamination.

I prefer Chemistrie Clips at this power if your lab will retrofit.

    Hope this helps,

dang thats true robert. Sorry Uncle!

I guess chemestrie clips could be a good option, Ive had success with IOT lenses in powers I never thought would work, and they were very well recieved by the wearer

On Jason's advice I'm going with the Auto 2. Wish me luck!

Thanks as always for the replies.

How big of a difference in thickness is the 1.74 vs 1.67 at this rx. I would assume that if you had a 52-18 frame size, lens thickness at the edge would not as drastic as one would think. I did a 1.67 for a patient who was about a -12.00 and the lab recommended the 1.67 because the 1.74 was only like 1.5 mm thinner at the edge. We don't deal with 1.74 very often probably because options are limited so I'm not as familiar with it. Any insights from someone that does alot of 1.74. Do patients seem to like it a lot over a 1.67?

The only time I will use 1.74 is if the patient demands it specifically, and I will charge them a lot for it. I try very hard to use proper frame selection so I never have to go about 1.60.

    @ -12, assuming an average pd of 60mm in a 52-18, 167 @1.2 CT is 9.4mm ET. 174 is 8.4 ET. A 1 mm difference. Changing the frame to 50-18 would yield 8.4 in 167 and 7.6 in 174.
Is the cost of a first born son worth this minimal difference? Proper frame fit is key. Material is not. My 2 pennies.
