    What makes Phoenix Trivex different?

I've always wondered why Phoenix trivex cuts differently than the other brands I've worked with (Younger Trilogy, Essilor's brand, Somo etc.) It seems to cut much smoother on the wheel and the "swarf" is much finer tiny strands or dust instead of chunks of lens that tear off.

I've never noticed a difference in end product, but rather just the processing difference. What gives? What are they doing differently?

I know Airwear Poly is definitely a different beast from some others, but that is a minor difference/smell. Phoenix really seems different to me.

    Does anyone know?

    Hi tallboy,

hoya use a custom formula of trivex that is a very very little different from the original trilogy/nxt/other.

the downside is a lower abbe (43 vs 45 so not really matter)
the benefit is an improving tensile strenght so it is more resistant for glasant frame than standard trivex.

but.... i do not know how more strenght is... and if it is REALLY matter in real use.

here in Italy I remember of an old adv from hoya when trivex came out saing that

But I think all trivex is almost the same

That's really good to know. Is Hoya the only one with a unique formula?
Have I told you today how much I hate poly?
