    A good day

Today was a good day. I was able to do several things that I love. Shoot photos, cook and help a friend of my daughter's.

First, I went to a local conservatory and spent a few hours shooting butterflies. Then, I made Japchae from scratch. A time and prep intensive Korean noodle dish. Lastly, I readjusted a pair of glasses for a friend of my daughter. Poor girl. Her glasses were so tight that it was giving her headaches. It was a polarized sun pair, and I recommended to her parents that they return to ForEyes to have them redone. ForEyes edged them with auto bevel. There was so much white around the lenses, it made me cringe. Plus, the temples were 145, not the 130-135 that was needed.

Anyway, I hope you like this photo. Most people get so up close and personal with butterflies, it scares them away. With a proper macro lens and skill, this is not an issue. However, today, I took another route. This was taken at around 14ft away using a 400mm prime. The poor butterfly did not even know that a sniper had it in its scope! Hope you like it. It is a bit different from the nightscapes normally posted here. This was processed as a high-key pastel. Not sure how OB renders this. It has been resized to a 4x6 for file size.

Thanks peeps! The lens used was a Canon 400mm “L”. Definitely not a Costco +50 cent upgrade. Ha! Speaking of Costco, have any one of you watched Idiocracy? Great Costco meme.
