Blue Laser Pen vs Blue Light Coatings

I forgot the name of the lab, but they are sending out samples along with a blue laser pen to demonstrate its blue blocking properties by completely blocking the beam from passing through. This of course does not work on anything else including branded blue filtered coatings. Now this laser pen is marked as a 405nm wavelength but most studies I have read cover 415-455nm as the harmful wavelengths. A lot of my colleagues are calling shill on branded products saying they don't pass the "laser test" but it appears the laser test is just smoke and mirrors. How do you actually test the properties of blue blocking in the 415-455nm range? Every spectrometer I've seen only tests up to 400nm.

Smoke and mirrors is right. Just marketing tactics. BPI makes an office friendly spectrometer that measures blue light well beyond 400nm.
